The Makerspace located at College of Marin’s Indian Valley Campus in Novato is growing. Here’s what’s available:
- 360-degree video;
- extended reality (XR), which includes virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR) and
- mixed reality;
- motion capture; and
What’s more, our XR Makerspace has installed new VR workstations equipped with Oculus
Rift and HTC Vive for immersive content creation in entertainment and design visualization.
The addition of this program expands career prospects for students. Research shows that
there is a dramatic growth in these emerging technologies. Moreover, these capabilities
complement other educational programs, as well.
Introductory courses in XR/360-degree video are anticipated to launch in the fall 2019
semester, but access is currently available to students enrolled in Game Development.
