2019 College of Marin Summer Career Academies

College of Marin and the Marin County Office of Education offer these educational academies exclusively for high school students — students who have just completed 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th grades (some classes are especially for 11th and 12th graders). These academies have limited space, and are FREE (for classes that earn credit, nominal college fess may apply; tuition also applies to graduated seniors).

College of Marin’s Award-Winning Program

College of Marin has received the 2018 Golden Bell Award for its Career Academies for High School Students!


  • Monday, April 1 – Application period opens
    Note:  Completing an application is required separately for each academy
  • Sunday, May 5 – Application period closes
  • Friday, May 10 – Students notified of acceptance


Once accepted, students must attend one of the following mandatory orientations:

  • Thursday, May 30, 6-7:30pm
  • Saturday, June 1, 10-11:30am
Career Exploration Academy

Career Exploration
4 Days June 17-20

Career Exploration is a credit-earning opportunity to delve into understanding yourself and how you can best pursue your interests and use your skills given the career market.

Students earn 1 CSU-transferable college credit for course completion!

Health Occupations

Intro to Health Occupations
9 Days, June 17-21 & 24-27

Explore careers in the leading industry for career growth. This academy provides an overview of health care occupations.

Health care is a growth industry. Students can earn 2 college credits with successful completion!

Introduction to Game Development

Digital Gaming
10 Days, June 17-21 & 24-28

Learn how to create a video game using Unity gaming software. Unity is the engine behind almost 1/3 of top games and storytelling projects and is used by Coca-Cola, Disney, Electronic Arts, LEGO, Microsoft, NASA, and more.

Students can earn 2 college credits with successful completion!

Learn about careers in Early Childhood Education, Elementary School Teaching, Middle/High School Teaching, School Administration, Special Education, Coaching/Athletic Education.

SunPower Solar Energy Academy

SunPower Solar Energy

Learn what it’s like to work in the solar industry. Through hands-on activities, field visits, intensive training and lectures from solar professionals, you’ll learn how to design, finance and sell a residential solar system!

Health Occupations

Health Careers Exploration
4 Days, July 8-11

Explore your career interests and learn the next steps in pursuing a career in the Health Care industry.

Health care is a growth industry. Students can earn 1 college credit with successful completion.

6 Days, July 8, 10, 12, 15, 17, 19

Study the legal, judicial, law enforcement, and corrections systems of the United States.

Students earn 1.5 college credits with successful completion.

Entrepreneur Academy

5 Days, July 15-19

Curious about starting and running your own business? Not the type to work for someone else? Over a third of the workforce are contractors or business owners!

Learn what it takes, explore business planning, and discover your dreams for your own business. Earn 1.5 college credits.

CyberPatriots Academy

5 Days, July 22-26

Delve into careers in cybersecurity and other science, technology, engineering, and mathematics fields.

Learn about securing networks, securing futures!

CyberPatriots Academy

The Culinary World: An Inside Look
5 Days, July 22-26

Learn restaurant concepts, menu designs, marketing, menu layouts, and culinary skills. Working in teams, you’ll learn to develop your own concept, create a signature menu item and then present it to a panel of industry professionals.
